Sustainable vegan dining london

The "Mallow Borough Market" in London is a remarkable restaurant located in the vibrant heart of the famous Borough Market, continuing a long tradition of plant-based cuisine as part of the Mildreds family. It is the first fully vegan restaurant in the market's history, which dates back to 1756, setting a new standard for sustainable gastronomy. The restaurant's design, created by Rosendale Design, spans two floors: the ground floor features the "Roots Room" with an open kitchen that provides insights into culinary craftsmanship, while the first floor houses the "Floret Room" and the "Petal Bar," adorned with large floral motifs on the walls, creating a modern and relaxed atmosphere. The decor reflects the philosophy of the house – natural, colorful, and sustainable.

Plant-based cuisine borough market

The cuisine at Mallow Borough Market is 100% plant-based, characterized by its international inspiration and seasonal focus. A standout dish is the "Chick+n Burger," featuring crispy fried plant-based chicken in a toasted brioche bun, served with truffle aioli and caramelized onion relish – a dish that convinces even non-vegans with its texture and flavor. The "Mushroom Tortellini" is also a favorite, filled with aromatic mushrooms and enveloped in a rich sauce that captures the flavors of the season. For those who enjoy sharing, the "Taste of Mallow Sharing Menu" offers a colorful selection of dishes that showcase the diversity of the menu. For dessert, the "Banana Pudding" tempts with its creaminess and fruity notes. Most ingredients are sourced from small, local producers, often directly from Borough Market, emphasizing sustainability and freshness.

Vegan restaurants with open kitchen

The beverage menu is equally creative and varied. The "Petal Bar" serves handcrafted cocktails like the "Coco Key Lime," a refreshing mocktail with coconut and lime that pairs perfectly with the dishes. The selection of vegan wines and beers is impressive, with many options sourced from sustainable producers. Coffee lovers can enjoy high-quality options like soy lattes, rounding out the offerings. The restaurant places great importance on minimizing waste and collaborates with specialized suppliers to achieve this goal.

The staff is known for their friendliness and attentiveness, making the visit an overall pleasant experience. It is dog-friendly and family-oriented, welcoming children as much as adults seeking a relaxed meal. Have you ever eaten a vegetarian meal and thought 'it's missing something' ? This is not one of those places. I sat at the bar, watching dedicated chefs do their work. The menu was a tad overwhelming, in the sense that it all looked so good and well thought out. A knowledgeable and chill waiter really helped me out by narrowing down my selections and recommending his favourites. The food & drinks were mind blowing, in that I had to savour eat bite. As an entrée it was the croquettes - fried perfectly on the outside & soft on the inside. Then the gobi (cauliflower) curry as a main with a side of rice. I'm currently getting chills just remembering how good it was. I drank a Basil and watermelon margarita, a flavour combination I've never tried, but it was tasty. If you're vegan, vegetarian or you're just curious how complete a meal can be without meat, come to Mallow
